The Public Trends Towards Functional Performance of Public Relations in Time of Crises

(An empirical Study on The Ministry of Hajj)

 

The study aims at defining the role of public relations administration to the Ministry of Hajj in time of crises, the main core of this study concentrates on the following query:

How is the public satisfaction towards the functional performance of the Ministry of Hajj’s public relations administration in time of crises?

A survey, which is directed to 200 persons of males and females from the public who performed Hajj before, was designed to answer this question or query.

By analyzing the responses of the sample, the most important results have been revealed which are represented in :

  1. A database and information about pre- Hajj crises, in addition to using modern scientific approaches in functional performance which are considered of the main requirements of functional performance success to public relations administration in the Ministry of Hajj.
  2. Human density, congestion and stampede, and accommodating in vital positions of the Holly Places are considered of the most potential crises during Hajj season.
  3. The public relations in the Ministry of Hajj contributes to attenuating potential crises in the Holly Places, by helping to adapting and responding to changes during potential crises confrontation in the Holly Places.
  4. The most important methods used to confronting these crises by the Ministry of Hajj’s public relations administration are reflected in pubic reassurance, and establishing a centre for calling and responding to all inquiries.

 

* In the light of these results the study has concluded, a number of recommendations were provided, the most important of which are:

  1. The crisis should be dealt with instantly, in a bid to take the necessary decision.
  2. Holding a number of training courses in relation to crises and public relations management.
  3. Attracting specialized leadership competencies in public relations domain to work in public relations administrations.
  4. Establishing specialized administration units, to draft strategic plans by public relations administration, to attenuate such crises.
  5. Providing technical, regulatory, and physical capabilities required for public relations administration.
  6. Conducting a number of media campaigns to improve organization’s mental image, after the demise of the crisis.
